This site is dedicated to the memory of Mike Bandy.

Mike was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis early in 2008 and despite a few symptoms was never particularly ill, he just got on with life. Mike passed away after a short, sudden and bravely borne struggle in March 2009, he was 52 years old. Mike was a devoted Dad to three lads, Sam, Steve and Colin. He was a loving Husband of Cheryl...they married in ITU of Harrogate District Hospital in March and she made him a very happy man! He was a great Grandad, son and brother. He loved animals, had a wonderful relationship with pussycat, Sooty. He was also a fantastic friend who touched many lives... he knew alot of people and he was known as a 'happy go lucky' cheerful chap, always whistling or singing, driving around in his infamous van, galavanting! Mike was a keen and skilled fisherman, always working on the secret super bait! He was also a great darts player, he played in the Harrogate League for years, more recently for the Traveller's rest, and he played very well. He loved his work as a painter and decorator and worked up until going into hospital. Mike is so sorely missed and we will never forget him and his terrible jokes and stories.  Mike wasn't particularly ill with Pulmonary Fibrosis until his final month when he got infection and his lungs couldnt keep the rest of him going. It was frustrating knowing that we couldn't do anything about it, we knew it was terminal as there is no cure, the treatments they tried had little impact. There was a slight chance of a lung transplant but the testing to see if he was suitable unfortunately didn't happen. All money donated to this fund will go directly into research into Pulmonary Fibrosis, hopefully in the future there will be more effective treatment.
